The Hebrew Book of Enoch, also known as 3rd Enoch, was written by Rabbi Ishmael ben Elisha and is one of the most amazing Ancient Writings I have ever read. I have included the link to chabad.org for the article on his life and work.
This Book is the record of the heavenly vision granted to him by God, whereby he sees the heavens, the angelic realm, their hierarchies, and their duties and functions, and is instructed by Enoch, the messenger of God's Presence, who shows him everything in the heavens.
It will bring anyone to the stunning realization that the Power and Might and Majesty of God is even far greater than all that He has created, which is in itself an amazing realization.
Jesus Christ left all of that for us, to become a human, show us how life is supposed to be lived, and then die in our place, for our sin against God. He was raised on the third day, to show us that death is an enemy, and can be overcome, and is now seated on the Throne at the right hand of our Father in Heaven. He wants us to know our Father, and all that He has and is doing for us.
Rabbi Ismael ben Elisha was one of the great sages of the Mishnah who lived 50 years after the destruction of the Second Temple, and was martyred for his faith by the Roman Governor, as one of the 10 Martyrs, along with Rabbi Akiva.
